VW T6.1 auto fold mirrors on key fob lock via VCDS

3 June 2026VCDS & Diagnostics

The Problem

The power-fold mirrors would only fold with a long-press of the key fob lock button rather than folding automatically on each lock press. The van already had the factory power-fold mirror hardware, but the fold-on-lock feature was not active from the factory.

Solution

Before you start, confirm your van has factory power-fold (electric folding) mirror hardware. If your mirrors only fold manually by hand, this coding change will have no effect — there is no motor for it to drive.

  1. Connect VCDS and open module 09 - Central Electrics.
  2. Click Security Access and enter code 31347.
  3. Click Adaptations, then search for "modus". Two results appear. Select the adaptation channel that controls the exterior mirror fold function (typically labelled along the lines of "Aussenspiegel anklappen Modus" / mirror fold mode — confirm the exact label in your VCDS version before changing it).
  4. Change the value from "not active" / "nicht aktiv" to "active" / "aktiv" (the option that enables fold on lock), then click Do It.
  5. Test by pressing the lock button once — the mirrors should fold without a long-press.
