Fitting ClimAir wind deflectors to a VW T6 or T6.1

3 June 2026Vehicle Faults

The Problem

The factory VW stick-on wind deflectors were considered poor quality and left behind heavy adhesive residue when removed. The owner wanted a better-fitting clip-on replacement that required no drilling or screws.

Solution

  1. Heat the edge of each VW stick-on deflector with a hair dryer to soften the adhesive, then lever it away from the window channel using a soft plastic trim removal tool.
  2. Work sticky stuff remover into all adhesive residue left on the channel, then wipe the surface clean with pure ethanol alcohol and blue paper rags.
    • Allow the surface to dry completely before fitting anything new.
  3. Clip the ClimAir sport deflectors onto the window channel edge — they locate with a plastic clip and do not require drilling into the mirror mount.
    • Both sides fit in around 10 minutes.
  4. Peel off the printed ClimAir branding sticker from each deflector if you prefer a cleaner appearance.
    • Order using Climair part number CLI0033277 or Car Parts 4 Less product number 953660881 to get the correct T6 and T6.1 fitment — entering your registration at checkout has been reported to pull the wrong part.

Safety Notes

  • Do not hold the hair dryer in one spot for too long — sustained heat can warp or discolour the window surround trim.
