VW T6 OEM auxiliary heating ductwork installation

3 June 2026Vehicle Faults

The Problem

The van had no factory auxiliary heating ductwork installed, leaving no clean connection point for an aftermarket heater to feed the OEM B-pillar vents. The owner had sourced all the OEM parts and needed to cut the step and B-pillar panels before a professional heater connection could be made.

Solution

  1. Order the OEM ductwork parts: intake duct 7E0 819 219, air guide channel 7E0 819 381C, frame air guide 7H0 819 475, B-pillar air guide 7H0 819 655A, B-pillar trim cover 7E0 867 292L 92W, front warm air vent 7H0 819 209A, rear warm air vent 7H0 819 383B, and the correct front step with vent hole for your van derivative.
    • Also order 6x screw N90879402 for the step duct, 2x screw N90739703 for the B-pillar duct, and 2x cable tie N0209022; these are standard plastic trim fixings available from any VW dealer.
  2. Before cutting, use a B-pillar cutting template to mark the correct outline on the trim panel — paper templates are available cheaply from Autoterm or standheizungs-shop.de.
  3. Cut the front step panel and B-pillar panel to the template outline, then fit and screw the ducting components into position.
  4. If connecting a 2kW aftermarket heater (Eberspacher D2, Webasto ST2000, Planar 2kW, or similar), route the heater's 60mm flexible metal outlet duct to a 60-to-90mm reducer adapter, then connect that to the rubber entry of the OEM duct.
    • The OEM VW duct entry accepts a 90mm outlet; aftermarket 2kW heaters use a 60mm outlet, so the adapter is essential.
  5. Source the Webasto 60/90mm reducer adapter using one of these interchangeable part numbers: 9011011, 1320760, 9011011C, or 1320760A.

Safety Notes

  • Have the final LPG or diesel heater connection made by a qualified installer — an incorrect fuel line joint is a fire hazard.
  • Check for hidden wiring behind the B-pillar and step panels before cutting to avoid damaging electrical cables.
