Stance+ Coilover Adjuster Won't Fit Van Rear Mount: Fitment Fix
3 June 2026Engine & Mechanical
The Problem
The Stance+ rear adjuster rings are approximately 1 mm too small in diameter to slide onto the factory rear mounting spigots. Stance UK's own advice was to sand or grind the mounts, which concerns owners because an aluminium adjuster against bare steel invites galvanic corrosion. Note: confirm the exact van model this was reported on and your specific Stance+ kit (product line / part number) before assuming the same fit issue applies to your purchase — verify the correct part number and application with Stance UK before ordering.
Solution
- Work around the circumference of the rear mounting spigot using a hand file until the adjuster ring slides on cleanly.
- The tight spot is often a slightly flanged or welded seam near the end of the spigot; the steel is soft and files easily without a grinder.
- Once both adjuster rings fit without forcing, clean and degrease the filed area, then apply a zinc-rich anti-corrosion primer (e.g. a cold galvanising / zinc-rich primer such as Hammerite Special Metals Primer or an equivalent cold zinc primer) to all exposed bare metal on the spigots. Brush on a thin, even coat and allow it to cure per the product instructions before sliding the adjusters on for the final time.
- The zinc-rich coating seals the aluminium-to-steel contact point, providing a sacrificial barrier that prevents the two dissimilar metals from seizing or corroding together over time.
