How to join the T6 Forum verified VCDS user registry

1 June 2026VCDS & Diagnostics

The Problem

Van owners needing help with T6 coding tasks — such as DRL coding, bulb monitoring disable, MFSW coding, and rear fader activation — have no easy way to find verified VCDS users nearby. One owner also experienced a no-start condition after accidentally changing a coding value in VCDS, which was further complicated by a physical wiring fault on the ECU power feed.

Solution

  1. Reply to the registry thread or email admin@t6forum.com to apply to join the verified VCDS user group.

    • Any member with a genuine VCDS setup is eligible to apply.
  2. Submit a full VCDS vehicle scan to the admin as proof that you are using a genuine VCDS interface.

    • The scan is treated in confidence and not shared publicly; it also contributes to the forum's coding comparison repository.
  3. Once verified, you will receive a yellow "VCDS user" badge under your username on all posts, and a yellow pin on the member map at www.t6forum.com/membermap/.

  4. To find local coding help, check the member map for nearby yellow pins and contact that user directly.

    • If the map appears blank, this is a known intermittent issue — post in your regional subforum instead.
  5. If you have a no-start condition after an accidental VCDS coding change, have a technician clear all fault codes first and note which codes remain after clearing.

    • The root cause is likely a physical wiring fault rather than corrupt coding — in the documented case, the issue was loss of power on Fuse 56, the 5A ECU feed.
  6. Inspect wiring continuity to the ECU power feed, check all fuses for voltage presence, and trace back to the high-voltage supply source before attempting any further recoding.

  7. For common coding tasks — bulb monitoring disable for LED upgrades, keeping dipped beam on when main beam is selected, MFSW coding, and rear fader activation — a verified VCDS user is the most reliable option.

    • Carista can handle bulb check disable on some T6.1 variants; OBD11 is worth considering for SFD-protected modules where VCDS currently has limitations on newer vehicles such as the ID.Buzz and T7.

What you’ll need

Tools

  • VCDS (VAG-COM Diagnostic System) interface
  • OBD11 interface (alternative for SFD-locked modules)
  • Carista OBD adapter (limited alternative for bulb check coding)
  • Multimeter (for checking fuse and wiring voltage)
  • HEX-NET WiFi interface (VCDS variant)
  • HEX V2 USB dongle (VCDS variant, Ross-Tech)

Parts

  • VCDS HEX-NET WiFi interface — Ross-Tech HEX-NET
  • VCDS HEX V2 USB dongle — Ross-Tech HEX V2
  • LED headlight bulbs — THQ V3
  • LED rear light upgrade — Travellin rears
  • Fuse (ECU 5A, Fuse 56) — N/A
